Colby College

Started in the Fall of 2018, Colby College’s chapter of Hope Happens Here wants to start the conversation about mental health on Colby’s campus, specifically towards student-athletes. We have worked with Active Minds, Colby SACC, and Colby’s Counseling Center to spread awareness on mental health and educate Colby athletes on the resources they have. We have worked with Active Minds and the counseling center to start “Notice and Connect,” a mental health training for all varsity sports teams. We are fortunate to be working alongside a great athletic department who has placed mental health initiatives as a top priority Most importantly we want Colby students to know that their mental health matters and that it’s okay to not be okay and to feel more comfortable asking for help. In the future we plan to hold more fundraisers, Mental Health Awareness Games, and other events dedicated to starting the conversation around mental health at Colby.
